How to choose the right baseboard?

There is no ugly skirting board, only you who don’t know how to choose skirting boards! A good-looking skirting line can often play a very good transition role visually, making the overall effect more harmonious and unified. Let’s take a look at how to choose the skirting line?

Principle 1: Choose the skirting line according to the size of the expansion joint.

For example, if the expansion joint reserved at the edge of your floor is 10mm, you can choose a skirting line with a width of 15-18mm; if your expansion joint is relatively large, you can choose a skirting line with a width greater than 20mm.

Principle 2: The less prominent the skirting line is, the better

In a room with a small area and low floor height, too large or too prominent baseboards will make the room feel oppressive. Therefore, the narrower and thinner the baseboard, and the more coordinated the color with the wall, the better.

Generally speaking, a Quarter round skirting board of 19*19mm is the narrowest choice just enough to prevent the shoes from hitting the wall; skirting baseboards with a height of 50-60mm are relatively easy to buy, but the most popular ones in Europe, America and the Middle East are mostly 8 -15cm baseboard.

In addition, the pure flat and uncarved skirting line does not have too much style tendency and is the most versatile.

Principle 3: Avoid “self-contained” skirting line

When designing, it is especially easy to make mistakes when the colors of the skirting line and the ground, wall, and door frame are different. If you are not a master of color matching, it is recommended to refer to these kinds of matching, which are beautiful and practical.

①Same color as the ground

The baseboard and the ground have the same color, which can weaken the existence of the baseboard and expand the ground space, but it will give people the feeling of “the ground is raised, and the height of the wall and the floor is shortened”, especially when the ground and the baseboard are darker. , the effect of lowering the layer height is more obvious. Therefore, this type of baseboard is suitable for use in high-rise apartments.

②The same color as the door frame

The same color as the baseboard and the door frame can reduce the sense of presence, but the door frame and the door are generally the same color, which requires special care in the selection of the door, otherwise it will become a disaster scene in minutes after installation. It is recommended that the color of the door should be light rather than dark.

③White is the most versatile

White is a neutral color, and it can go well with light or dark walls. If you have difficulty choosing, or you can’t find a skirting line that is the same color as the floor, door frame, or wall, you can do it without thinking Choose white!

④ Same color as the wall

The same color as the baseboard and the wall can make the connection between the ground and the wall more smooth, and it is not visually obtrusive.

However, if it is a colored wall, especially a dark one, it is very difficult to find a skirting line that is exactly the same color as the wall. Generally, you need to take a color card to the manufacturer for customization. Even so, there may be chromatic aberration, so it is better to choose white skirting board directly.
